I haven't found informations about this.. so I'll ask.
Let's suppose that a brand releases two versions of the same router, one with integrated modem and one without.. in other words, the Asus RT-AC56U and DSL-AC56U.
Tomato supports the router only RT version and obviously does not support the modem equipped DSL version.
What I was wondering is.. what would happen should we install Tomato on the DSL version? If the answer is that it would work and we'd only lose modem functionality I think i would be worth for some people.
In my case, i have a DSL-AC56U, bought when I used ADSL... now I'm going to switch to fibre, so I'd happily install Tomato even if this would mean losing the no more used Modem port
O.O When I checked online I read they had the same architecture save for the modem.. I guess the info I found was wrong..
Thank you Adooni for pointing me to the wiki.. you stopped me before bricking the modem. I tought the wiki had only the compatible routers listed so I didn't check for the DSL-AC56U specs! Thanks again, really
the best way will be to sell DSL modem and to buy new one.
If you are not using wi-fi 5GHz the best option will be ASUS RT-N18U. 2.4GHz is truly much better fi you do not have at least several 2.4 wi-fi in air. 2.4 have beter range and signal strange
if you need 5GHz you can try to find used one AC56U or new AC68 (Hardware Rev C1 is not supported!), AC3200 ro Netgear ARM routers like R7000.

Ponownie padły mi wszystkie porty sieciowe w routerze - to już 3-ci w 6 m-cy. Podejrzany to ekranowana, nieuziemiona skrętka - 12mb. Czy jest to możliwe?

Kupowałem Asusy n10u albo n12d1 ale nie widzę ich, chyba już nie produkują, Chodzi o coś nowego i taniego. Transfery niewielkie.

@overflow2 patrząc po dostępności funkcji w nowych kompilacjach, to chyba nawet WRT54G/GL jeszcze ma OpenVPN, albo jakiś odpowiednik... zależy, na jakie transfery liczysz.
